Helping trusts make sustainable savings on medical pulp
Vernacare's 'Austerity Partnership' rewards
loyal customers
Vernacare has launched an 'Austerity Partnership'
with NHS Trusts to enable hospitals to make sustainable cost
savings on medical pulp without compromising on exceptional quality
standards or patient care.
In conjunction with NHS Supply Chain, Vernacare is
helping hospitals to lock in guaranteed long term savings, while
giving them an opportunity to buy sustainable British products to
support the national economy and British jobs.
The Austerity Partnership rewards loyal customers
for their valued business and long term commitment to Vernacare -
helping NHS Trusts to meet ambitious cost reduction targets.
Through securing a purchasing commitment, Vernacare can pass on
generous year-on-year cost reductions and rebates to the NHS.
South Tees Hospital NHS Trust is one of many Trusts
to commit to the partnership with Vernacare. Pat Lloyd, Deputy to
the Assistant Director of Procurement, said: "This new agreement
provides us with continued value for money and fixed price savings
from Vernacare. We have trialled pulp products from other
suppliers, but there have been supply and quality issues, including
the hidden cost of ward staff using two or three of these products
stacked together just to safeguard against leaking. Vernacare's
patented pulp is independently tested to the highest quality
standards and we have confidence in the efficacy of their
products."
The purchasing commitment means Vernacare can
maintain and increase its production volume to make viable further
investment in its Lancashire production facilities and secure
operating efficiencies and cost reductions. This will enable the
company to absorb increased raw material costs and share cost
savings with customers. Vernacare is also operating an exclusive
discount scheme on its British designed and manufactured
macerators.
"Vernacare is a top 30 supplier to the NHS -
supplying the health service for almost 50 years with the
innovative pulp products and the Vernacare System of patient
toileting we invented," said Lesley Webster, UK Director,
Vernacare. "We offer the most comprehensive range of top quality
single-use pulp, and invest in dedicated customer care support and
territory managers, who provide valuable staff training, hygiene
audits and study day support."
As a British supplier, Vernacare's service and
delivery record is first class, with 99.9% of orders delivered
on-time and in-full, contributing towards the NHS Sustainability
agenda through minimising product transport miles and avoiding air
miles.
Lesley Webster added: "Clinical staff appreciate
the outstanding quality of Vernacare pulp, and the fact that it
never leaks. Each and every batch produced is of a guaranteed
consistent quality - tested for maceration - which means that it
disintegrates totally through maceration and doesn't cause
blockages in drains, which can be an expensive problem with other
pulp brands.
Vernacare is an eco-friendly ISO 14001 approved
manufacturer - using recycled newsprint, and no bleach or dye in
its products. It is the only pulp manufacturer that carries a
British quality Kitemark - adhering to independent PAS 29
assessment.
The company partners with NHS clinicians to pursue
continuous innovation, and its patented detergent-proof single-use
wash bowl has recently won the prestigious Queen's Award for
Enterprise (Innovation Category).
